Dear Sir,
Regarding a sum of Hongkong Dollars Forty thousand only
(Hkg. $40,000.00) which was deposited with you to-day to the
credit of our account by the Aviation Bureau, Canton (or it's
representative), we desire to explain that this amount is de-
posited in accordance with the terms of an agreement made to -
day between the Aviation Bureau, Canton and our firm, whereby
we undertake to supply ten British manufactured aeroplanes to
the bureau within a specified time etc. A copy of this con-
tract has been handed to you by the "Undersigned" this evening.
Although not stated in the agreement, we wish you
(or your Hongkong office) to hold this sum until we have carrie
out our part of the contract. In the event of failure on our
part to fulfil our obligations, you may return the sum in full
to the Aviation Bureau without further reference to us. We
wish to point our, however, that failure on the part of the
Bureau to fulfil their part of the agreement does not entail
the holding of this sum indefinitely and, once we have
carried out our part, the entire amount becomes our property
unconditionally.
We are. etc.,
